DJI Unveils Amflow PL Electric Mountain Bike
Chinese drone maker DJI has made a surprise entry into the electric bike market with the Amflow PL. The new product promises to compete with high-end models from brands such as Bosch and Specialized. Amflow PL will be available later this year, priced between €7,000 and €12,000.
The Amflow PL electric bicycle will be able to carry a battery with a capacity of 600 or 800 Wh. An outboard battery pack may be included to increase driving range. At the same time, the assembled bike weighs only 19.2 kg, of which 2.27 kg is for the carbon fiber frame, and 2.52 kg is for the electric motor and gearbox.
The new product uses a proprietary DJI Avinox electric motor. When developing and creating the electric bike, the company used all its vast experience in the production of drones, drives and control systems. Apparently, the Avinox engine will be the heart of the company’s other electric bikes. The matter will not be limited to one expensive mountain model.
The bike has four pedal control modes, including an automatic mode that adjusts power based on riding conditions.
Amflow PL will hit the market in the fourth quarter of this year. DJI has announced that the bike will be available from authorized dealers in Germany, the UK and Australia.
