Avatars In The Meta Horizon Metaverse Will Be Given A Human Appearance: They Will Have Legs
Metaverse CEO Mark Zuckerberg first introduced his avatar to the metaverse, which also has legs.
Zuckerberg announced that footed avatars will be available later this year on smartphones and VR headsets.
Zuckerberg unveiled the feature during Tuesday’s Meta Connect event, stepping out in virtual reality on a wood-paneled stage as a full-fledged, Fortnite-looking avatar, while a bunch of old, legless Horizon World avatars clapped in the audience. Aside from the legs and feet, Zuckerberg’s face and body also looked a lot less soulless than in the previous version. “I know you’ve been waiting for this,” Zuckerberg said as he went into detail about the hottest new VR feature, legs.
Of course, Meta is working on more than just displaying the legs of virtual characters. The company is preparing a whole set of features related to avatars. For example, the ability to create expressive and photorealistic avatars to correctly display their behavior in various situations is being explored. It is also expected that it will be possible to add avatars to Instagram Reels, Messenger and even WhatsApp video chats. Later this year, Meta* will launch a virtual reality avatar store, so the process of buying “clothing” and customizing skin options should be significantly simplified.
