Apple Watch Ultra 2 Introduced
Apple also introduced the Apple Watch Ultra 2 smartwatch, in addition to the Apple Watch Series 9.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is powered by the Apple S9 chip, which has 60% more transistors than the S8 processor found in last year’s Apple Watch Ultra. And the new product is 30% faster. According to Apple, the S9 chip also has a quad-core Neural Engine, which is 2 times faster than its predecessor in performing artificial intelligence tasks. The wearable also features the second-generation Apple U2 ultra-wideband chip, which allows for greater accuracy in pinpointing the location of the iPhone, and also supports Precision Finding, which helps locate the AirTag using audio, tactile and visual cues, as well as indicating the exact search direction and distance to the tag.
Apple Watch Ultra 2 features an Always-on Retina LTPO OLED display with 3,000 cd/m2 brightness for crisp, easy-to-read viewing even in direct sunlight. The smartwatch also has a new Modular Ultra watch face, which displays real-time data around the edges, including seconds, altitude or depth. According to the company, it delivers the most sophisticated features of any Apple digital watch face that can be customized for sports, outdoor activities, and ocean and water sports. The new watch face also features a night mode that automatically turns on when it gets dark thanks to an ambient light sensor.
Apple Watch Ultra 2 costs as much as $799. The company is already accepting pre-orders, and the watch will go on sale on September 22, 2023.
