Apple Allows Downloading Apps On iPhone Directly From The Internet
The company has once again updated the rules for installing applications from third-party sources in the EU. This time, users were able to install IPA files directly from developer sites.
Earlier this month, Apple released iOS 17.4, which includes support for third-party app stores with a catalog of third-party products, as well as the platform’s own apps. Now it is possible to create stores for distributing only your applications. For example, a game studio might create an iOS app store that exclusively offers its own products.
By directing users to their site to conduct transactions, developers can now choose how to package promotions, discounts and other offers within their apps. Starting today, developers don’t have to follow Apple’s custom template for promotions. In addition, developers will be able to distribute applications directly from their sites, provided they meet certain Apple criteria.
The new feature will become available later with the release of the iOS 17 update. Whether it will be iOS 17.5 or some special iteration of iOS 17.4 is still unknown
