Acura Reveals The First Electric Crossover ZDX
ZDX is Acura’s first all-electric model. And the second car, created as part of a new stage of cooperation between Honda and GM. Three years ago, they agreed to release joint electric vehicles for the North American market, the plan included two models. The first was shown last fall – this is the Honda Prologue crossover, although it has not yet appeared on sale. And now its premium version called Acura ZDX is ready.
Interesting that the electric car Acura ZDX will immediately be offered in two versions: A-Spec or Type S.
The new 2024 model year ZDX boasts a stylish design and premium interior, as well as range and performance characteristics that make it an instant rival to the electric cars of the BMW and Mercedes-Benz world – at least on paper.
Visually, the new ZDX is not a copycat of the original facelifted 2010 fastback. Instead, it has a more traditional SUV shape with a gloss black roof, 20- or 22-inch wheels depending on trim, and a front fascia inspired by the Acura Precision EV concept.
Sharing the GM Ultium and Chevrolet Blazer EV platform, the base ZDX A-Spec uses a 102.0-kilowatt-hour battery pack and comes in single- or dual-motor configurations. The base ZDX has 340 horsepower and approximately 300 miles of range with the single-engine setup, dropping to 350 miles with the two engines.
Acura promises a “nearly” 50/50 weight distribution for the ZDX platform as a whole, with Type S-specific performance upgrades ranging from an adjustable air suspension with tuned adaptive dampers to 15.6-inch six-piston Brembo brakes with yellow-painted calipers on front wheels. The ZDX Type S will even have a high-performance summer tire with gloss black wheels.
Sales of the Acura ZDX electric car will start at the very beginning of 2024. The price is already known: the Acura ZDX A-Spec version will cost from $60,000, while the Acura ZDX Type S is priced at least from $70,000.
