TikTok Stops Working in the US
TikTok has suspended operations in the United States as a law banning it has come into effect. The app has been removed from app stores and a message has appeared on its website stating that the platform no longer operates in the United States.
According to reports, TikTok stopped working on the evening of January 18, as evidenced by numerous comments from users of the platform on other social media platforms, such as X. When attempting to launch the TikTok app in the US, a message appears stating that the service has been suspended, which is consistent with the previously issued injunction.
“The US has passed legislation to ban TikTok. Unfortunately, this means you will not be able to use TikTok for the time being. We are fortunate that President Trump has made it clear that he will work with us on a solution to restore TikTok once he takes office. Please stay tuned for updates,” TikTok’s notice reads.
In an interview with CNN shortly after the court’s decision, US President-elect Donald Trump avoided a direct answer about TikTok’s fate in the country. “Ultimately, it’s up to me, so you’ll see what I do,” Trump said. “Congress gave me the authority, so I’ll make the decision.”
