Xreal Air 2 And Air 2 Pro Display Glasses Introduced
Xreal is opening pre-orders for the latest generation of augmented reality glasses, the Xreal Air 2 and Air 2 Pro, which will be released in November in the US, UK, Germany, France and Italy.
Xreal Air 2 is an evolutionary update of the first generation device. Priced at $379, these glasses boast Micro OLED displays, through which an image with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels is displayed in front of the user’s eyes. The resolution of the device remained the same, but the brightness increased from 400 to 500 cd/m², and the weight decreased by 10% to 79 g – for comparison, equipped with a camera, but without Meta displays, Ray-Ban weighs 50 g. Xreal stated that redesigned the temples and nose pads to provide a more comfortable fit, and redesigned the audio subsystem to direct sound into the ears rather than into the environment. The Air 2 Pro model, priced at $449, offers an important additional option – dimming control due to electrochromatic glass.
Both models lack cameras, which is why they cannot track the user’s surroundings, and therefore create virtual objects on the displays. That is, they cannot work as augmented reality glasses – they are just displays.
The Air 2 and Air 2 Pro will ship starting at $399 and $449 starting in November, with preorders open now.
