The Court Sentenced The 18-Year-Old GTA VI Hacker To Indefinite Imprisonment At Hospital
The teenage hacker behind the massive GTA 6 gameplay leak appeared in court today for sentencing. Arion Kurtaj, 18, was found guilty by a UK jury in August, but sentencing was deferred until today.
The burglar’s name is Arion Kurtaj. As part of the Lapsus$ group, he not only contributed to the leak of GTA VI, but also participated in the hacking of Microsoft, Samsung, NVIDIA and the British telecommunications company BT&EE.
Courtage was found responsible for the attacks in August, but psychiatrists ruled that the autistic attacker could not stand trial.
The judge decided that Kurtaj’s skills and desire to “return to cybercrime as quickly as possible” made him a danger to society, so he was sentenced to indefinite detention in a secure hospital.
In 2022, several dozen videos of an early build of GTA VI, as well as screenshots and thousands of lines of source code for the program, were leaked onto the Internet. Rockstar Games confirmed the game leak and expressed disappointment. Company representatives said that the development of the new part of GTA will continue according to original plans.
