Teams And Zoom To Integrate With Meta VR Workrooms

Microsoft and Meta intend to join forces to organize the work and entertainment of people in virtual worlds. The collaboration will begin by integrating major Microsoft services including Teams, Office, Windows and Xbox Cloud Gaming with Meta Quest VR headsets.

The unexpected collaboration will significantly strengthen the position of both companies in the field of virtual interaction and entertainment. Adding the amazing Microsoft Teams experience to Meta Quest will allow people to interact with each other in a new way, as if they were face-to-face, according to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.

This is the first truly major collaboration between the two companies since Facebook* was integrated into the Windows Phone platform over a decade ago.

It is expected that the new Quest Pro and Quest 2 headsets will even include the use of avatars in Microsoft Teams. Moreover, Microsoft’s development will be compatible with Meta’s own similar solution, Horizon Workrooms. Users will be able to join meetings in Teams directly from Workrooms. According to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, this cross-platform compatibility will be the foundation of the virtual office of the future.
