Starlink Already Selivers Speeds Of Over 8 Gbps
Elon Musk demonstrated that the Starlink satellite Internet service with the new Community Gateways tariff already provides data download speeds of more than 8 Gbps. He added that the unloading speed will also reach this value soon.
SpaceX will begin offering providers ground stations equipped with large antennas, with the help of which it will be possible to provide broadband Internet to remote areas that lack access to fiber-optic networks. That is, the station will connect to the Internet not through optical fiber, but via a radio channel.
Recently, SpaceX Vice President of Starlink Engineering Michael Nicolls tweeted the results of a speed test from Jacksonville, USA, which showed that Starlink is capable of delivering high data rates of up to 8102 Mbps using Mobile Community Gateways.
The first such station has already been built in the city of Unalaska on an island near Alaska, which is currently successfully providing local residents with fast Internet through a local provider. The Unalaska station is ground-based, but SpaceX also plans to bring mobile gateway technology to military ships and aircraft.
