Samsung Showed The World’s First Transparent Micro-LED Display
Ahead of the upcoming big technology show CES 2024, scheduled for January 9-12 in Las Vegas, Samsung unveiled a number of announcements during its First Look 2024 presentation. Notable among them was the reveal of transparent MicroLED displays that make content appear to float in the air.
There is currently no information on the cost of transparent Micro-LED displays, as well as the timing of the appearance of this technology in consumer devices. Despite this, Samsung showed off three transparent Micro-LED displays with different designs from each other. The two demo units feature tinted glass, making it easy to ignore anything behind the display. At the same time, the third display was completely transparent, just like regular glass, and at the same time it retained the bezel-less design.
All three demo displays are about a centimeter thick, adding to the illusion of a floating screen, and the high pixel density of the Micro-LED panel makes images incredibly clear.
However, there are also negative aspects: even regular Samsung TVs using MicroLED panels cost from 150 thousand dollars for a 110-inch model.
