Robot Taxi Cruise Traveled 1 Million Miles And No One Was Driving
In the US, fully unmanned vehicles drove more than 1.5 million kilometers.
Cruise, a subsidiary of General Motors, has reached a major milestone with its electric vehicles having traveled about 1,600,000 km on autopilot.
It is important to note that we are talking about trips in which there was no human assistance – the vehicle was completely autonomous. This testing began in San Francisco in November 2021.
According to the latest data, Cruise had about 30 vehicles in early 2022, and by September of last year, the fleet already had 100 cars.
The company reportedly feeds data from each ride into a continuous learning machine that generates millions of real-life scenarios on the road. This allows the technology to learn from simulations and apply the knowledge gained in real life.
