Pixel 8 Won’t Get Gemini Nano Chatbot
The Pixel 8 and 8 Pro smartphones are based on the same Tensor G3 SoC. Despite this, in the current generation Google decided to somewhat limit the younger model compared to the older one. For example, Pixel 8 will not receive a mobile version of the Gemini Nano chatbot.
However, he said that Google is “working on the theme to bring Nano to more devices” and that even more high-end devices will receive its support in the near future.
In terms of features, the difference between the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro is the larger RAM on the older model – 12 GB versus 8 GB. For all the power of the Pixel 8, everything will be able to work with the Gemini Nano on a technical level, since the Galaxy S24 with 8 GB of RAM has the Magic Compose feature at its base. However, using AI for multiple functions at once can affect the performance of other applications, so Google does not recommend this approach.
That said, Google says the Gemini Nano will be coming to other “high-end devices in the near future,” but it remains to be seen whether this will include older Pixel smartphones.
