Nintendo Switch 2 To Be Released This Year And To Have An 8-inch LCD Display
Nintendo Switch 2 will be released in 2024. Previously, there were speculations that the console would hit the market in September.
Bloomberg has received information about the screen – the Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to have an 8-inch LCD screen. This is not good news for fans of the OLED screen in the updated Nintendo Switch, but the manufacturer may follow a similar path and release an updated version of the device in the future.
The Nintendo Switch already has a modification with a higher-quality OLED display, so we can assume that the Japanese company will start updating the console with a simpler version. For Omdia analysts, the debut of the new Nintendo console is important in terms of a potential doubling in shipments of small diagonal LCD panels for entertainment devices. According to their forecasts, from 12 million units last year they will increase to 26.6 million units this year, and will remain at a slightly lower level until 2027 inclusive.
It is worth noting the screen sizes of the devices currently on the market – Nintendo Switch (6.2 inches), Nintendo Switch OLED (7 inches), Steam Deck OLED (7.4 inches) and PlayStation Portal (8 inches).
