New Air Taxi From Wisk Aero 7 Unveiled

Boeing-backed drone startup Wisk Aero has unveiled a four-seater, electric-powered autonomous air taxi. The machine can fly without human intervention. At the moment, the development company has requested permission from the Federal Aviation Administration to organize commercial transportation of passengers as part of the air taxi service.

Air transport startup Wisk Aero has increased the passenger capacity of its future air taxi from two to four. It is noteworthy that this is an unmanned model. The company intends to bring the 6th generation of autonomous electric urban transport to the market and will now seek certification from the US Federal Aviation Administration.

Four-seat passenger eVTOL was developed for autonomous flight. A set of onboard sensors and an obstacle avoidance system are responsible for this.

The model features a configuration with 12 propellers spread over a 15 m wingspan. In the new model, the transitional forward propellers are larger than those of earlier prototypes and have five blades. At the same time, the rear propellers with four blades are disabled and locked during movement to reduce drag. In the new model, engineers placed the fenders above the passenger compartment to improve safety and reduce cabin noise.
