Meta Tests Private Messaging In Threads

Threads’ popularity soon surpassed 130 million users, but many of them complained about the lack of direct messaging capabilities. As such, Meta has begun testing a feature that will allow users to post from Threads without having to go to Instagram.

The feature reportedly leverages Instagram’s private messaging service, but allows messages to be triggered directly from Threads. Some users of the service reported the appearance of a “Messages” button in the Threads application. It is located above the profiles of other users, approximately in the place where the “Mention” button was previously located. A Meta spokesperson confirmed that the developers are currently “testing the ability to send messages from Threads to Instagram.»

Note that Threads still does not have its own mailbox, and it is not clear whether it will appear in the future. The head of Instagram Adam Mosseri has previously repeatedly said that the developers do not plan to create a separate mailbox for Threads.
