British studio Maverick Games officially announced its debut project. Clutch is a full-fledged AAA racing game with a narrative core, scheduled for spring 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The announcement was accompanied by a trailer that immediately established its key points: no arcade-style lightweight, only a large racing world with a story within.

According to Brown, Clutch has been in development for three and a half years and is dedicated to “the love of driving, the connection between car and driver, and the genuine thrill of speed.”

Clutch follows racing prodigies—a brother and sister—competing in the historic R1K series. Alongside these races, the underground organization Midnight Collective, whose members enjoy the thrill of speed, also runs races.

At the beginning of the game, our hero finds himself in trouble and needs help. And so we open the door wide to the underbelly of R1K, hidden beneath the glitz and glamour,” Brown explains.

They promise a mix of speed and style with chases and escapes, a gripping story, unprecedented vehicle customization, handcrafted and spontaneous missions, PvPvE content, and graphics powered by a custom version of Unreal Engine 5.

The next target is Summer Game Fest 2026, where Maverick promises to show the game in more detail. The release is still a year away, but the groundwork looks solid: the team’s genre experience spans more than one console generation.
