Lenovo Plans To Release Legion Gaming Smartphone

Lenovo plans to release the first gaming smartphone in the Legion series in 2022. The manufacturer announced the upcoming release of the Legion Y70 on the Chinese social network Weibo.

Unfortunately, no technical specifications for the new Y70 have surfaced, even in leaks, so it’s unclear whether this will be a flagship device or whether the brand is opting for a more affordable option. It is only known that the new model plans to use artificial intelligence to enhance gaming.

Lenovo noted that numerous fan requests prompted the decision to resume production of new gaming smartphone models within the Legion series. However, in 2023, the manufacturer’s representatives officially and confidently announced the phasing out of this segment. Therefore, it’s quite possible that another reason for the “comeback,” although not officially announced, could be ASUS’s recent exit from this segment. As a reminder, ASUS officially announced its exit from the smartphone market in January 2026 at a corporate event in Taipei. This means that new ASUS smartphone models, including the ROG Phone gaming model, will no longer be released, leaving a vacant market niche.

Details about the new Lenovo Legion Y70 are scarce, but the wait may not be too long. The company added, “See you in May,” possibly hinting that the release of the powerful gaming smartphone is just around the corner.
