Half-Life 2 Is Getting An RTX Remaster

As part of the Gamescom 2023 announcement, Nvidia revealed that the next game to receive an RTX upgrade will be Valve’s widely acclaimed first-person shooter Half-Life 2.

Four teams under the guidance of NVIDIA, are now actively working on Half-Life 2 RTX: An RTX Remix Project – a remaster of the original fantastic shooter about a silent scientist with a crowbar, howling with an interventionist empire. It is noted that this will not be a simple remaster with bolted ray tracing technology, but rather a full-fledged remake with redesigned and significantly improved graphics, as well as support for technologies such as DLSS 3, Reflect and RTX IO.

The RTX Remix, announced by Nvidia in September 2022, is not yet available to the public, but the company has given early access to four of the lead Half-Life 2 modding teams working on the mod under the Orbifold Studios banner.
