Google Mapps Expands Immersive Sightseeing
Google is gearing up to release several new features for Google Maps in the coming months (Immersive Browsing, Neighborhood Atmosphere, Real-time Search). At yesterday’s Search On event, the company showed off upcoming new features for Maps. According to Google, the new features are part of its effort to create a visual experience in Maps that will help them. users to navigate the world more naturally.
Over the next few months, Google Maps will continue to expand its immersive browsing feature with more photo-realistic video images of locations in major cities around the world.
To date, Maps offers AI-generated aerial views of over 250 major landmarks, including the Tokyo Tower, Big Ben, the Empire State Building and the Colosseum.
By combining billions of Street View and aerial photographs, Google has created a digital model of the world to enable users to better navigate new areas and make informed travel decisions. Coming soon features include a timeline showing what each area looks like at different times of the day and under different weather conditions. This feature will also show you the traffic at certain restaurants and places nearby.
