Google Launches ChatGPT Competitor Bard

Google announced that its new artificial intelligence service, called Bard, is rolling out to trusted testers and will be available to the rest of the users “in the coming weeks.”

We will combine external feedback with our internal testing to ensure that Bard’s responses meet high standards of quality, security and are based on real information,”Pichai said.

Powering Bard is Google’s language model for conversational applications, also known as LaMDA. The company says its new AI will use information from the internet to respond creatively to queries or provide detailed information on questions asked.

Bard will be available on Monday for select testers and then in the coming weeks for the general public.

According to CEO Sundar Pichai’s blog post, Bard uses a lightweight version of LaMDA. This model uses less processing power, allowing it to scale to more people and provide more feedback. Pichai said the feedback will be critical for Google to achieve “a high bar for quality, security and the validity of real information.”
