Discord For Android Receives A Major Update

Discord for Android is moving to React Native, a move that will allow users to get updates much faster. Previously, users of the iOS and PC versions of Discord were the first to receive updates, since the applications used the React Native framework, as opposed to the Android client. Updates may be delayed by several months after a new feature arrives on iOS or PC. Now, new features will be rolled out simultaneously with other platforms.  “Historically, work on bringing new features to Android has often been delayed until the desktop and iOS apps have been updated,” Discord developers said. In addition, the design of the Android application will now be more similar to what users are used to seeing on PC or iOS. Some client specifics will be retained, such as the font size setting.
