Classic Jeep Wrangler Gets Electric Version
Atelier Mopar has prepared a concept SUV Jeep CJ called Surge for the SEMA tuning exhibition. The all-terrain vehicle is equipped with an electric power plant and components from the modern Wrangler.
The Jeep CJ Surge concept is equipped with a scalable 400-volt, 268-horsepower electric drive module, which is located in the engine compartment and is attached to the frame using special engine mounts.
The electric motor is powered by a 50 kWh battery that is installed where the rear seats would normally be. The CJ is still a capable SUV as the engine is mated to an automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels via a two-speed transfer case.
The model also features a chopped windshield, a 2-inch lift kit, and matte black 18-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch wheels. All-terrain tires BFGoodrich. The model is also fitted with custom fender flares and Jeep Performance Parts Dana 44 axles.
Other features include Wrangler JK Rubicon bumpers, a Warn winch and Surf Blue tow hooks. They are joined by LED headlights, a retro-style electric car badge, and a charging port behind the driver’s door. The model also features stone rails, skid plates and an eye-catching Copper Canyon exterior with glossy black and Surf Blue accents.
