Bluesky By Jack Dorsey Creates Algorithm Marketplace
In a new blog post, CEO Jay Graber said that Bluesky will include an “algorithm store” that will allow users to control how content is filtered and sorted.
«For developers, an open marketplace for algorithms will provide the freedom to experiment and publish algorithms that anyone can use. For users, this will be the ability to customize their feed and give them back control over their most valuable resource – their attention.»
Dorsey has long advocated “algorithmic choice” and even raised the idea of an algorithm store while still running Twitter. In her post, Graber said that allowing users to choose their own algorithm, including a timeline, could solve the “backlash against perceived algorithmic manipulation of people’s timelines.”
Bluesky’s vision of an algorithmic marketplace is an exciting development in the world of social media platforms. By giving users more control over their online experience and encouraging innovation in algorithm design, Bluesky can create a more diverse and inclusive online community.
