Bang & Olufsen Launches Hi-End Speaker With Modular Design
Bang & Olufsen has unveiled the new Beosound A5 portable speaker. Designed in collaboration with Danish-Italian design duo GamFratesi, the new Beosound A5 fuses northern and southern design culture with the powerful sound, meticulous craftsmanship and product durability that Bang & Olufsen is known for.
The speaker has an aluminum top and bottom, a light oak handle and a woven paper fiber sheath. There is also a dark version with black anthracite aluminum and dark oak handle. Despite the materials used, the device has a degree of protection against water and dust IP65.
Inside, there’s a 5.25″ woofer, a pair of 2″ mid-range drivers and a 3/4″ tweeter, which are paired with four digital amplifiers to deliver 280W of power output, making the Beosound A5 the company’s most powerful portable speaker yet. The manufacturer separately notes that he applied a modular design with the ability to easily replace components for easier repairs. In addition, the company plans to sell interchangeable cases of other materials and colors.
The manufacturer claims 12 hours of continuous music playback. At the same time, wireless charging for smartphones and other gadgets is built into the top cover of the speaker, where all the controls are located.
The light version of the Bang & Olufsen Beosound A5 is priced at $1,049 (€999), while the dark version costs $1,149 (€1,099).
