Apple Was Forced To Remove WhatsApp And Telegram From The App Store In China
China has demanded that Apple remove a number of applications from the App Store, including instant messengers WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, Line and Threads. The company agreed to comply with this requirement.
The iPhone maker said the regulator ordered the removal of the apps in question for national security reasons. Apple also noted that it complied with the CAC requirement because the company complies with the laws of the countries in which it operates. According to the source, the regulator ordered the removal of these applications after the discovery of inflammatory content associated with Chinese President Xi Jinping that violated the country’s cybersecurity legislation. The removal of foreign services from the Chinese region comes at a time when the United States is fighting the Chinese TikTok, demanding that the vertical video service be blocked due to surveillance of American citizens.
