Apple Vision Pro Users Began To Expose Themselves And Others To Danger

The US Department of Transportation has urged owners of the Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset not to use the device while driving, even if the car is equipped with a semi-autonomous driving system. The warning is due to the obvious dangers that such practices may pose to users and others.

US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, through his page on the social network X, issued a warning to drivers, in which he indicated that all current vehicles require maximum attention from the person behind the wheel “on an ongoing basis.” The official decided to make a statement after videos began to appear on the Internet showing drivers using Apple Vision Pro while driving. The minister published one of these videos on his social network page.

The video shows a Tesla driver being stopped by police for using an Apple Vision Pro while driving. The driver himself later said that his video was a “joke” that he made with the help of his friends.

He added that he used the headset while driving for “30-40 seconds.”  Apple Vision Pro is equipped with transparency technology.  In other words, it allows you to see the surrounding physical space and overlay digital interactive elements on it that will certainly distract the driver.

In the instructions for the Vision Pro, Apple explicitly states that users are prohibited from “using the device while operating a car, bicycle, heavy machinery, or in any other situation that requires human attention for safety.” The company adds that the Vision Pro can be used outdoors “only in a controlled environment.”
