Apple has unveiled the new HomePod mini 2 smart speaker, priced at $149. The device features the S10 chip, an updated audio processing system, and support for new AI-powered Siri capabilities.
A key change was the replacement of the S5 chip with the S10, enabling support for advanced AI features and enhanced audio processing. The primary innovation is support for an upgraded version of the Siri AI voice assistant, powered by Apple Foundation Models. When paired with an iPhone or iPad that supports Apple Intelligence, the speaker gains access to the user’s personal context.

A “Sound Glow” feature has also been introduced, utilizing the top section of the device to provide a visual representation of the audio. The panel changes color in real time based on the album art, synchronizing with the bass and treble of the music being played. There is also a dedicated animation for background sounds, such as the sound of rain.

The device can now function as part of a home theater system. For the first time, users can combine a pair of HomePod mini 2 speakers with two full-sized HomePod 2 units and an Apple TV 4K to create a four-channel surround sound setup. The system automatically detects the position of each speaker in the room and adjusts latency and volume balance to ensure an optimal soundstage.
Sales will begin on October 30, 2026. The speaker will be available in five colors: pink, green, blue, white, and Midnight. The price will be $150.
