Apple To Release Passwords App Next Week

As part of WWDC 2024, Cupertino residents should announce a separate Apple Passwords application. It will carry over all the functionality from Passwords in Settings and will be available on iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, visionOS 2 and Windows.

Currently, Apple device users can store their logins and passwords using the iCloud Keychain service. The new Passwords app will sync in a similar way, but it will be able to separate account data into categories. According to the source, this application will be available on iPhone, iPad, Vision Pro and Windows. There is no mention of whether it will be available on Android devices.

The Passwords app is expected to debut in iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15. Users will also be able to use the new app to generate passwords, autofill forms, and create authentication codes like Google’s.

According to Apple, the new product should compete with the popular password managers 1Password and LastPass. They will make a convenient transfer of information especially for this purpose.
