Apple Named The Best Apps Of 2022 For Its Platforms As Part Of The App Store Award
Apple has summed up the results of the App Store Awards 2022. The company has published a rating of the best apps and games of 2022 on its website. This year’s award winners were 16 programs: ten applications, five of which were singled out in a separate category “Cultural Impact”, as well as six games.
The spontaneous photo social network BeReal was named the best application in the App Store for iPhone users.
The BeReal app is a social network that allows you to publish photos only once a day at a certain time and without editing. Among its investors are venture capital giants Andreessen Horowitz, Accel and Yuri Milner’s fund DST Global. According to TechCrunch, it was founded in December 2019 by two former GoPro employees from France, Alexis Barreat and Kevin Perrault. In July, BeReal was the #1 downloaded free iOS app on the App Store and held the lead for almost a week. Sensor Tower estimates that the app has 20 million installs to date.
A separate category in 2022 was the Cultural Impact application section. In this category, applications were noted that had “an impact on people’s lives and culture.” The list includes: the How We Feel app for checking your emotions on a daily basis, Locket Widget that allows you to share real-time photos with friends and family via a home screen widget, and the Waterllama app from Ukrainian developer Vitaliy Mogilevets that helps you control your water consumption. The top five also includes Dot’s Home, an app that publishes stories about historical injustice, and Inua, which talks about the historical events and traditions of the Inuit ethnic group in North America.
