Tesla Plans to Produce 10,000 Optimus Robots in 2025

There’s a new ambitious milestone in the world of robotics. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced the company’s ambitious plans to produce humanoid robots called Optimus. According to the announcement, made during a conference call after Tesla released its fourth-quarter 2024 financial results, the company aims to produce 10,000 Optimus robots in 2025.

“Will we be able to build exactly 10,000 robots by the end of December this year? Probably not, but will we be able to build a few thousand? Yes, I think we will. Will those few thousand Optimus robots be doing useful things by the end of the year? Yes, I’m sure they will be useful,” the source quotes Musk as saying. The source believes that the topic of humanoid robots is bringing back optimism to investors who lost it after Tesla’s electric car sales fell in 2024. Robots are always fresh and inspire confidence. Especially since Tesla promises to introduce them en masse into factory processes to reduce its own production costs.

2026 could be a turning point for Optimus, as that’s when Tesla plans to start selling the robots to third parties, rather than just using them internally. As for pricing, Musk envisions the robot selling for less than $20,000 when it reaches production volumes of 1 million units per year.
