“Alone in the Dark” To Be Pieces Interactive’s Final Game
Developer studio Pieces Interactive, the authors of the failed reboot Alone in the Dark, has become the latest victim of the Embracer Group.
The company announced on its official website that it will close its doors in 2024. The company has been developing video games since 2007, during which time it has released games such as Puzzlegeddon, Fret Nice, Leviathan Warships, Robo Surf and Kill to Collect.
Alone in the Dark is a reimagining of the classic trilogy. The game received mixed reviews and sold below the expectations of the management of the Embracer Group holding, which owns Pieces Interactive.
A month after the unsuccessful release, a wave of layoffs swept through Pieces Interactive, but it seems that the cuts were not enough – as it became known, Embracer Group closed the studio.
Over the 17 years of its existence, Pieces Interactive has released more than 10 games on PC, consoles and mobile devices, including the puzzle game Puzzlegeddon (the studio’s first release), Magicka 2 (and DLC for the first part), and Alone in the Dark.
