Spotify Raises Premium Price For First Time In 12 Years
Streaming service Spotify has announced price increases for its data plans in 52 countries. This is stated in the company’s blog.
In particular, the rise in price will affect subscribers in the EU, UK, USA, Canada, Brazil, etc.
As the company announced on its blog, prices will generally increase by $1 dollar, pound or euro, depending on the country of the user. The new US rates will look like this:
Premium Individual | Premium Duo | Premium Family | Premium Student |
$10.99 | $14.99 | $16.99 | $5.9 |
The move follows other streaming services that have also increased subscription costs.
“To enable us to continue to innovate, we are changing our Premium pricing in a number of markets around the world,” the music streaming service said Monday.
“These updates will help us continue to deliver value to fans and artists on our platform.”
The company also said that the number of paying subscribers to the service crossed the 200 million mark. In the spring, Spotify said that the total number of active users of the service reached 551 million.
So Spotify premium subscribers now make up 39.9% of the total, and that percentage is getting smaller, but only because the overall user base is growing.
