Gorillaz To Hold Virtual Concert In London And New York At The Same Time

Music group Gorillaz has announced a concert performance in New York and London as part of an augmented reality (AR) experiment based on Google’s location service.

The virtual concert will use Google’s location-based augmented reality tool. The tool uses Google Maps data and GPS coordinates to overlay permanent augmented reality into the physical world.

According to VR Scout, for the Gorillaz concert, Google will use the ARCore geospatial API, which will allow developers to link digital content to real-life locations in Google Street View.

“Almost Live” performance of Gorillaz will be available for viewing through the free application Gorillaz Presents, offered for download on Android and iOS devices.

Previously, the MTV Video Music Awards 2022 added a new nomination to the list of competition categories. This year, artists will be eligible to compete for the Best Metaverse Performance award.
