SpaceX Will Provide 350 Mbps Internet 9 On The Plane For The Duration Of The Flight

SpaceX plans to launch the Starlink Aviation project in 2023, which will provide access to satellite Internet on aircraft. According to The Verge, the promised speed will be 350 Mbps, which is enough for online games, video calls and “other high-speed data transfer activities.”

The description of the new service on the SpaceX website says that the company’s satellite Internet in aircraft will be available during the exit to the runway, takeoff, flight over land and water, and landing with a delay of only 20 ms. “Starlink Aviation will have global coverage. Since satellites are in low Earth orbit, there are always vehicles directly overhead or nearby that will provide strong signal strength at high latitudes and polar regions – which distinguishes them from satellites in geostationary orbit, ”SpaceX said in a message.

A set of equipment for connecting one aircraft to the Internet (a terminal and two Wi-Fi access points) costs $150,000. The subscription fee ranges from $12,500 to $25,000 per month. The kit can already be booked on the SpaceX website for $5,000.
