ByteDance has launched a product page for Seedream 5.0 Pro, its flagship image generation model that will top the Seedream product line. Its key feature is splitting a finished image into independent layers, similar to a graphics editor. The company announced the model on June 23 at the Volcano Engine FORCE conference, promising a launch “soon.” ByteDance has not yet confirmed API availability.

In Seedream 5.0 Pro, the developers have implemented several key improvements, including the ability to visualize complex infographics, precise editing features, the generation of realistic images and portrait textures, and support for entering and generating text in multiple languages. According to ByteDance, the algorithm is capable of transforming data, concepts, and long texts into professional layouts, generating infographics, images, UI mockups, visual training materials, and structured assets for commercial use. Compared to previous versions of the AI model, the new version features a higher level of consistency between user input and generated output, improved structural integrity, and visual aesthetics.

Seedream 5.0 Pro supports the ability to select specific areas of an image using a point or lasso for editing without regenerating the entire frame. Areas obscured by the editable object are automatically generated. If necessary, the image can be divided into separately editable layers, such as the main object, background, text, and decorative elements. The AI model generates photorealistic images by elaborating on lighting in the frame, skin texture in portraits, adding physically accurate reflections, and other effects.

What ByteDance didn’t share were any numbers. No benchmarks, no comparisons with competitors, no pricing: the product page is just a showcase of examples, and a technical report on the Seed blog hasn’t yet appeared. So, it’s impossible to assess how much the Pro outperforms Google’s Nano Banana 2 and OpenAI’s GPT Images 2.
