Nothing Cancels CMF Phone 3 Pro Due to Rising Memory Prices

Nothing has officially confirmed that it will not release a new CMF smartphone in 2026, effectively canceling the anticipated CMF Phone 3 Pro. The company’s co-founder, Akis Evangelidis, announced this on the social network X, citing the sharp rise in memory costs, which makes it impossible to create a new device with the same price-to-performance ratio.
“We were working on a successor, but given current memory prices, we can’t create a smartphone that truly represents a step up at a price that’s acceptable for CMF. We prefer to be honest about this rather than release something we wouldn’t be proud of,” said Mr. Evangelides.
While the 2026 lineup doesn’t include a new budget smartphone, the company’s other development plans remain in place. Several other new products will be released under the CMF brand, including in new categories. The release schedule for new Nothing smartphones also remains in effect, with announcements expected in the near future. Specific release dates for new products in the ecosystem have not been disclosed, nor has a new release date for the next CMF smartphone.
The situation reflects a broader structural shift in the electronics market, where competition for limited memory capacity is intensifying between consumer devices and AI infrastructure. This is leading to a redistribution of resources toward higher-margin segments, primarily server equipment and data centers.
