Xiaomi is a relatively new player in the automotive market, offering two electric vehicle models in a limited range. Its most dynamic and expensive version, the SU7 Ultra, has been selling poorly recently. Only 45 units were sold in December, compared to 3,101 in March last year.
From March to August 2025, CarNewsChina explains, citing Dongchedi statistics, monthly sales fluctuated between 2,000 and 3,000 units. However, with the onset of autumn, sales of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra sports car began to decline sharply. In September, only 488 units were sold, in October, the number dropped to 130, and in November, the 100-unit mark was broken, with sales dropping further. In December, only 45 cars were sold.
As a reminder, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra hit the market in February 2025, priced at approximately $75,700. The car is equipped with a three-motor powertrain producing 1,548 hp, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.98 seconds, and has a top speed of 350 km/h. Despite its outstanding performance, the model has been plagued by controversy over the past year, ranging from accusations of false advertising to reports of technical failures, including doors locking after accidents.
Furthermore, China’s highly competitive electric vehicle market is creating conditions for price wars, and high-end niche models are currently less in demand. This year, Xiaomi expects to sell a total of 550,000 electric vehicles across all models.
