The company announced that the new facility will be optimized to expand AI workloads and support Meta’s growing artificial intelligence infrastructure. The Beaver Dam location was chosen due to its reliable access to infrastructure and the availability of a skilled workforce.

Meta’s investment in the Wisconsin data center will exceed $1 billion and create over 100 jobs upon completion. During peak construction, the project will employ over 1,000 skilled professionals. The company will also finance nearly $200 million in energy infrastructure improvements, including grid upgrades, electrical substations, and transmission lines.

The Beaver Dam data center will run on 100% clean and renewable energy and is designed to achieve LEED Gold certification, maintaining the high efficiency standards Meta sets for all its data centers.

As part of its commitment to the local community, Meta is donating $15 million to Alliant Energy’s Hometown Care Energy Fund to help local families with their home energy costs. The company will also launch the Data Center Community Action grant program next fall to support schools and local organizations in Beaver Dam.

The company plans to invest $600 billion in the US by 2028, with a significant portion of this investment going toward chips, data centers, and equipment. Meta is building gigawatt-scale data centers in several other states, including Ohio, Texas, and Louisiana.
