Chinese company Noetix Robotics announced the sale of the bipedal robot Bumi for 112,000 rubles—the first humanoid robot priced comparable to a flagship smartphone.

The Bumi robot stands 94 cm tall and weighs 12 kg. This size and weight make it easy to use at home or in the classroom. Unlike previously presented laboratory prototypes or industrial models of humanoid robots, Bumi is aimed at the mass market, students, and teachers. This means robots are no longer an elite technology, but are becoming devices for everyday use. According to the developers, their new product is a turning point in the commercialization of robotics.

The relatively low cost of the Bumi robot was made possible by the use of lightweight composite materials in its design and modular layout. This ensures smooth movements while keeping weight to a minimum. The robot is capable of walking, balancing, and even dancing, as demonstrated in the video above. The robot responds to voice commands and can serve as a personal assistant or as a demonstrator for teaching robotic platform skills.
