2023 Honda Accord Adds In-Car Google Assistant, Google Maps, and More Apps
The 2023 Honda Accord will be the Japanese automaker’s first vehicle with a Google infotainment system, adding built-in apps from the tech giant such as Google Maps, Google Assistant and Google Play.
The Japanese automaker has announced that Google’s core services are on track for a mid-generation sedan. This allows customers to receive applications such as Google Maps after receiving them at the dealership. It essentially updates the infotainment system of the upcoming Accord.
The software will first be available as standard equipment on the 2023 Accord Touring, the top-of-the-line midsize sedan that features the largest 12.3-inch touchscreen ever fitted to a Honda. To reduce the risk of distraction on this screen, the infotainment system will add Google Assistant to control key vehicle functions via voice control. With just voice commands, Google Assistant can change the car’s climate control settings or set navigation directions using Google Maps, which will show the route on the 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster.
The Google Play function works exactly the same as on a smartphone. You can download several third-party apps to play music, audiobooks, or podcasts. And because it’s Google software, everything is familiar and works exactly as you’d expect.
