Zuckerberg Unveils Meta Quest 3 VR Headset
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg unveils new Meta Quest 3 VR headset. This new generation of virtual and mixed reality helmet will be released later this year. The Meta Quest 3 will be available with 128GB of internal storage and starts at $499.99. The headset is equipped with a new generation Snapdragon processor, and controllers are supplied with it.
Quest 3 can either work in classic VR mode or superimpose an AR image on real-world objects using external cameras. Among the advantages of the novelty in comparison with the previous model, Zuckerberg called a 40% smaller size, twice the performance and a new generation Qualcomm chip.
The controllers have also changed: they have become more ergonomic, have lost external protective rings and received the TruTouch haptic feedback function. Another hand-related innovation is that the headset will track their position as the user jumps.
The novelty is compatible with all applications for the previous version of glasses. The company has not forgotten about them either: Quest 2 will receive a firmware update that will increase processor performance by 26%, and the Pro version will “overclock” by 11%.
More details about the headset will be revealed on September 27 at the Meta Connect event.
