San Francisco Police Almost Allowed to Eliminate Dangerous Suspects with Robots
The Supervisory Board of San Francisco is ready to allow the city police in exceptional situations to use robots to eliminate suspects. This is reported by the telegram channel “Babel”.
According to the voted proposal, the police can only use killer robots if other methods of de-escalation or neutralization of criminals have not yielded positive results.
For such work, remote-controlled models that were previously used to inspect the territory and defuse bombs will be trained and converted.
These models include the REMOTEC F6A, a massive robot with an explosive-disposal arm, and the QinetiQ TALON, which has multiple weapon platforms.
How will the robot use lethal weapons? There is no answer to this question in the project description. But the most obvious guess is the installation of firearms on the robot.
Another option is to equip the drone with explosives. For the first time in the United States, a similar method was used by Dallas police officers in 2016. Then the drone dropped explosives on a sniper hiding in the garage and shooting at the officers.
