PvP Shooter Marathon From Bungie Details
Bungie announces the revival of Marathon, one of its first FPS games, as a PvP shooter with a futuristic setting.
The reimagining will be very different from past games in the franchise – this is a PvP shooter in the spirit of Escape from Tarkov, where players need to infiltrate zones and successfully get out of them, collecting as many valuable artifacts and other loot as possible.
The events of the shooter will unfold in the distant future on the lost colony of the planet Tau Ceti IV. Players will take on the role of cyborg mercenaries who fight each other for wealth and glory.
Players will be able to customize their mercenary, as well as improve it with the help of implants. More powerful weapons can also be found during attacks.
Bungie chose graphic realism as the art style. The studio wants to create a vibrant setting that is both recognizable and alien. Characters are primarily made stylish and “cool”.
Since the Bungie acquisition, Sony has mentioned wanting to release a few games with online services, and Marathon looks like one of the first big games in this category. The game does not currently have a release date or period, but it will support cross-play and cross-save for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
