Mercedes-AMG ONE Received The Power Plant Of The Formula 1 Car

Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the production version of the ONE hypercar. I am focusing on the serial production of the car for a reason: the first prototype was shown more than five years ago. And finally, the car gets to the conveyor.

Every detail is interesting in it, but we’ll start, breaking the tradition, with its insides. The idea to make a Mercedes-AMG ONE initially sounded something like this: “Let’s make a hypercar with an engine from a Formula 1 car”? Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Kallenius recently said that it was foolish to say yes to such a crazy idea. Imagine a 1.6-liter (there are no mistakes here, the volume is really like a small car) V6 that produces 11,000 rpm. Its power is 566 liters. If you think that this is not enough and somehow unworthy of a formula car, then you will be right: now hybrids are driving on the tracks of the royal race.

In addition to the conventional internal combustion engine, the Mercedes-AMG ONE received four more electric motors. Two of them are located on the front axle. Their total output is 237 kW (equivalent to 322 hp). The third motor with a capacity of 120 kW (equivalent to 161 hp) works together with the main ICE engine. The fourth electric motor works together with a turbocharger.  Its power is 90 kW (121 hp).

A total of 275 copies of the Mercedes-AMG ONE will be built. All of them were sold out immediately after the first presentation, which took place in 2017.

The estimated cost is 2.75 million euros. Of course, this hypercar cannot be obtained for such money, since it can only appear at auctions, where it will be sold for much more money.
