“I, Robot”Director Accuses Elon Musk of Plagiarism

Australian film director Alex Proyas, known for his science fiction films The Crow (1994), Dark City (1998), I, Robot (2004) and Omen (2009), posted the following collage, which requires no comment.

Users noted the similarity of the design of the presented devices with the aesthetics of the devices from the film “I, Robot” directed by Alex Proyas and starring Will Smith, writes The Hollywood Reporter.

Optimus, a universal humanoid robot named after the character of “Transformers”, does indeed bear a resemblance to the NS5 robots from the film “I, Robot”. But it was the fact that the presented unmanned passenger minibus Robovan, similar to a smaller copy of the car for transporting robots in the film, as well as the unmanned taxi Robotaxi, similar to the futuristic Audi RSQ from the same film, served as the cause of merciless ridicule on social networks and even a reaction from Proyas himself on the social network X.

Let us recall that “I, Robot” was released in 2004. The idea of the film is based on the “Three Laws of Robotics” – rules of conduct for robots, formulated by the writer Isaac Asimov in the story “Round Dance”.
