China Launches World’s 1st Pure Hydrogen Power Generator

Innovative Jupiter One gas turbine generator has passed its first tests. It solves China’s renewable energy problems.

The Jupiter One generator was developed by specialists from the Mingyang Smart Energy group of companies. This manufacturer is known for creating the world’s largest wind turbines, up to 300 meters high. Wind, like the sun, does not generate energy continuously. Gaps with no wind and at night must be filled with generation from other sources. The use of hydrogen is interesting in that excess electricity during peak supplies during the day can be directed to electrolysis – the extraction of hydrogen by splitting ordinary water.

Mingyang notes that large-scale hydrogen generators will help stabilize grids and solve the problem of excess power at large wind and solar power plants over 1 GW. Excess electricity can be used to split water into hydrogen and oxygen, which will allow the fuel to be stored and used later.
