Budget Smartphone Vivo Y29 Announced

Vivo has unveiled the Vivo Y29 smartphone, which replaces the Y28 model with the Dimensity 6020 chip, announced earlier this year. The new product meets the MIL-STD-810H military standard for protection against impacts and falls, and is also protected against moisture and dust according to the IP64 standard.

The device is based on the well-known MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset (~450K in AnTuTu).

Memory. From modest 4+128 GB to reasonable 8+256 GB. Memory cards are supported, of course.

The screen has a diagonal of 6.68″ (107 cm²). The refresh rate pleases – up to 120 Hz. The resolution is disappointing – only 720×1608 (264 ppi).

The battery is good, 5500 mAh. The charging is moderately fast – 44 W.

The set of cameras is unconvincing. 8 MP in front, 50 MP plus something auxiliary in the back. We don’t know anything about the main camera sensor.

There is no NFC module or gyroscope. There is a fingerprint scanner, a standard audio output and symbolic protection from water and dust according to the IP64 class. The “shock” test of the MIL-STD-810H standard has been passed.

Vivo Y29 is available in Glacier Blue, Titanium Gold, and Diamond Black. The 4GB/128GB model is priced at around $165. The Vivo Y29 with the maximum memory configuration (8GB/256GB) is priced at around $225.
