Visual Instruments unveiled the Phantom monitor, calling it the first consumer-grade transparent computer display. The device operates on the principle of a head-up display (HUD): an image is projected onto a glass panel through a mirrored circuit, and the transparency can be adjusted to completely black it out.
According to the vendor, the Phantom features dynamic opacity. This means the user can adjust the display’s transparency, even to full opacity, like a regular monitor. At least three transparency settings are supported, making the new monitor quite versatile.

The Phantom features a 24-inch 4K panel with a 16:9 aspect ratio. According to Visual Instruments, the monitor supports Ultra HDR, delivering a brightness of up to 5000 cd/m². Support for the sRGB color space is claimed to be 100%. Available interfaces include USB Type-C and HDMI. Marketing materials state that the Phantom is compatible with all gaming consoles, computers, and smartphones equipped with these ports.

The Phantom is currently in early production and is being released in limited quantities. The official price has not yet been announced. According to the manufacturer, the estimated price will be comparable to the Apple Studio Display, or approximately $1,600.
