Xiaomi Unveils Xiaomi YU7 Crossover: It Surpasses Tesla Model Y In Many Ways

Today, May 22, 2025, Xiaomi officially unveiled its second branded car – the Xiaomi YU7 electric crossover. The model is called the main competitor of the Tesla Model X. The new product was announced in honor of the company’s anniversary – this year Xiaomi turns 15 years old.

The new model is a five-seater crossover with a length of 4999 mm, a width of 1996 mm, a height of 1600 mm and a wheelbase of 3000 mm. Thus, it surpasses the Tesla Model Y in most dimensions. For comparison, the Tesla Model Y produced in China has a length of 4797 mm, a width of 1920 mm and a wheelbase of 2890 mm. At the same time, despite its smaller dimensions, the Model Y remains the best-selling electric crossover in the country. However, as Xiaomi founder Lei Jun noted, the YU7 could change this situation.

The YU7 is built on an 800-volt platform, allowing the battery to be charged for 620 km of range in just 15 minutes.

Xiaomi YU7 Standard is equipped with rear-wheel drive and an electric motor with a capacity of 320 hp. In turn, the all-wheel drive versions Pro and Max develop a capacity of 496 and 690 hp, respectively. The manufacturer claims acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9, 4.27 and 3.23 seconds, respectively.

Xiaomi has not yet announced the price of any trim level. Insiders expect the car to cost between 250,000 and 400,000 yuan.
